Our Mission and Vision
Mission: To provide equitable, accessible, and affordable healthcare services to all residents of Anambra State, guided by evidence-based policies and community engagement.
Vision: A state where every individual enjoys optimal health and well-being, with a resilient health system that responds effectively to current and emerging challenges.
Our History
The Ministry of Health was established shortly after the creation of Anambra State in 1976. Over the decades, it has evolved from a small administrative unit to a comprehensive health authority. Key milestones include the launch of the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme in 2018, the construction of the Awka Specialist Hospital in 2020, and the deployment of telemedicine services in 2023. Today, we continue to build on this legacy with a focus on innovation and inclusivity.
Leadership Note
From the Honorable Commissioner for Health: "Our vision is a healthy Anambra where no one is left behind. We are investing in primary care, upgrading facilities, and empowering our workforce. Together with our partners, we are building a system that not only treats illness but promotes wellness. I invite you to explore our services and join us in this journey."
