The Anambra State Ministry of Housing is the principal government agency responsible for formulating and implementing housing policies, coordinating affordable housing development, and overseeing urban renewal across the state. We operate under the mandate to ensure that every citizen of Anambra has access to safe, decent, and affordable shelter in a well-planned environment.

History

Our Journey

  1. 1

    Ministry Established · 1991

    The Ministry was created to centralize housing policy and development in the newly created Anambra State.

  2. 2

    First Major Housing Scheme · 1995

    Launched the first state-funded affordable housing estate in Awka, delivering 50 units.

  3. 3

    Urban Renewal Programme · 2005

    Initiated the Onitsha Urban Renewal Project, rehabilitating infrastructure in the commercial city.

    Policy Overhaul · 2015

    Revised the Anambra State Housing Policy to incorporate public-private partnerships and green building standards.

    Digital Transformation · 2022

    Launched online building approval and housing allocation portals to improve service delivery.
