Discovering Champions Early
Our scouts are deployed across all 21 LGAs, visiting primary and secondary schools, community sports days and local tournaments. We use standardised assessment tools to identify potential in athletics, football, basketball, wrestling, boxing and para-sports. Identified athletes are enrolled in our Anambra Talent Pool, receiving free coaching, nutrition advice and medical screening.
In 2024 alone, we scouted over 2,000 young athletes, with 120 selected for advanced training camps. Our goal is to ensure no talent in Anambra goes undiscovered.
Raising Standards
In partnership with the National Institute for Sports (NIS) and the Nigeria Football Federation, we offer three levels of certification:
Referee certification covers football, basketball, athletics and combat sports. Courses are held quarterly at the Ministry’s training centre in Awka.
Whether you are an athlete, coach, school or community group, we are here to help. Contact the Ministry to learn about registration, facility booking or partnership opportunities.
