School Registration and Licensing
We process applications for the establishment, registration, and licensing of public and private primary, secondary, and technical schools. Our team ensures that all schools meet the minimum standards for infrastructure, staffing, and curriculum before approval.
Teacher Recruitment and Development
The Ministry manages the recruitment, posting, and continuous professional development of teachers in public schools. We organize regular training workshops, seminars, and online courses to enhance teaching quality and classroom management skills.
Examination Administration
We coordinate the conduct of state-level examinations, including the Anambra State Basic Education Certificate Examination (ANBECE) and the Common Entrance Examination into secondary schools. We also oversee the registration and supervision of national exams such as WAEC, NECO, and JAMB within the state.
Scholarships and Bursaries
Through our scholarship unit, we provide financial support to indigent but brilliant students at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels. We also administer bursaries for students studying critical fields such as science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
School Infrastructure and Maintenance
We plan, execute, and monitor the construction, renovation, and maintenance of school buildings, laboratories, libraries, and sanitation facilities. Our goal is to create a safe and conducive learning environment for all students.
Curriculum and Quality Assurance
Our quality assurance team inspects schools regularly to ensure compliance with the national curriculum and state standards. We also develop supplementary learning materials and promote the integration of ICT and vocational skills into the classroom.
Special Needs and Inclusive Education
We are committed to ensuring that children with disabilities and special educational needs have equal access to education. We provide specialized training for teachers, adaptive learning materials, and support for inclusive schools across the state.
Adult and Non-Formal Education
Our adult literacy and continuing education programmes offer a second chance for out-of-school youth and adults to acquire basic literacy, numeracy, and vocational skills. We run community learning centres and partner with local organizations to reach underserved populations.
