Anambra State Ministry of Transport

About Us

Mission

To provide a safe, efficient, and integrated transport system that fosters economic growth, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability across Anambra State.

Vision

To be the leading transport ministry in Nigeria, known for innovative policies, world-class infrastructure, and exceptional service delivery that transforms the lives of our citizens.

Our History

Established in 1991 following the creation of Anambra State, the Ministry of Transport has evolved from a small regulatory body into a dynamic agency overseeing multi-modal transport. Key milestones include the introduction of the Anambra State Traffic Management Agency (ANSTMA) in 2010, the launch of the Awka City Bus Rapid Transit pilot in 2018, and the ongoing expansion of our inland waterway network along the Niger River.

Leadership Note

Under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, and the dedicated team at the Ministry, we are implementing the Anambra Transport Master Plan 2023–2030. Our focus is on digitalizing vehicle registration, modernizing public transport terminals, and enforcing traffic laws to reduce accidents. We invite all stakeholders to partner with us in building a transport system that every Anambran can be proud of.
