Awka, March 10, 2025 – The Anambra State Ministry of Transport today inaugurated the second phase of the Awka City Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, adding 20 new buses and three new routes connecting Agu Awka, Ifite, and Amawbia. The service will operate from 5:30 AM to 9:30 PM daily, with fares starting at ₦100. Commuters can purchase tickets via the new N-TRANSPORT mobile app.
Announcement: Road Safety Campaign for Easter Season
April 1, 2025 – In preparation for the Easter holidays, the Ministry, in collaboration with ANSTMA and the Federal Road Safety Corps, will launch a statewide road safety campaign from April 10 to April 20. Motorists are advised to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy and to obey all traffic regulations. Free vehicle checks will be available at designated points in Onitsha, Awka, and Nnewi.
Update: Inland Waterway Dredging Project Commences
February 20, 2025 – The Ministry has commenced dredging operations on the Anambra River to improve navigation for cargo and passenger boats. The project, funded by the state government in partnership with the National Inland Waterways Authority, is expected to be completed in six months and will boost trade in the riverine communities of Ayamelum and Anambra West.
