Press Release: 500 Young Anambrans Graduate from Skills Acquisition Program

Awka, January 15, 2025 — The Ministry of Youths and Works today celebrated the graduation of 500 young people from its flagship Skills Acquisition and Vocational Training program. The graduates, trained in fields ranging from solar panel installation to digital marketing, will now receive startup toolkits and mentorship to launch their own businesses. Hon. Commissioner Dr. Adaora Nwosu congratulated the graduates and urged them to become ambassadors of self-reliance.

Project Update: Onitsha-Awka Expressway Expansion Reaches 60% Completion

Onitsha, December 20, 2024 — The Ministry announced that the expansion of the Onitsha-Awka expressway from four to six lanes has reached 60% completion, with the project on track for delivery by Q3 2025. The project has created over 1,200 direct jobs, with 30% reserved for youth from host communities. Once completed, the road will significantly reduce travel time and boost commerce between the state’s two largest cities.

Call for Applications: 2025 Youth Innovation Challenge on Smart Infrastructure

Awka, November 10, 2024 — The Ministry invites young innovators aged 18–35 to submit proposals for smart infrastructure solutions that can be piloted in Anambra State. Winning ideas will receive up to ₦5 million in funding and technical support. Focus areas include intelligent traffic management, solar-powered street lighting, and waste-to-energy systems. Deadline for submissions is February 28, 2025.
